Burnt-out trans activist Caz Davis returns to Rūrangi, the rural dairy community he fled ten years ago, hoping to reconnect with his father, who hasn’t heard from him since before Caz transitioned. As father and son slowly reconcile, Caz finds himself swept up in the environmental fight which is dividing the town.

Screening as the Whanganui Pride Week 2021 movie. Confluence are delighted to be donating 100% of the ticket sales to Pride Whanganui. We can do this thanks to the generous support of the filmmakers of Rūrangi who are waiving their licence fee.

This Sundance winning documentary is an intriguing and emotional story revealing the complexities of crime, and its impact on the victim and criminal. We're proud to be screening this as another Thoughtful Thursday to promote and encourage critical thinking amongst a Whanganui audience.

Together you will experience the glorious detail and vibrant colours of a hidden world and learn how it is being threatened, and what you can do to help protect it.

At the same time you'll also be helping to support Whanganui's own local coastline, as 100% of the ticket sales will be donated to the wonderful folks of Castlecliff Coast Care. This event is also generously supported by the Department of Conservation as part of Sea Week 2021.

​Remember that screenings can sell-out quickly so you are encouraged to reserve as early as you can to avoid disappointment. Confluence does not charge any fee or take part payment for cancelled orders or reservations, even at short notice.

Walk-in sales or reservations

In venue walk-in ticket sales are available for most screenings, including on the night or anytime before hand if you're passing by.
  • Debit card (EFTPOS) and cash payments are accepted.
  • ​If buying seats on the night seating may be limited, especially for larger groups.
  • Unclaimed or no contact reservations will be released to walk-in sales at 6:20 each evening.

Confluence Cinema Sweet Shop

Chilled sparkling New Zealand fruit drinks, Lindt and Whittaker's chocolate, plus gourmet popcorn, and even chocolate fish and lollies. You can find all these and more for sale in our boutique cinema sweet shop.
We also still provide free chilled filtered drinking water and you are welcome to bring your own small snacks and drinks into the cinema, providing these are not in noisy packets or emit strong smells.

All films are exhibited at Confluence comply with the New Zealand Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act 1993.

​Please check any published classification of each film before purchasing a ticket or attending. As a responsible venue we will not permit audience members to attend screenings, or see rated trailers in our venue prior to screenings, who cannot provide evidence they are above the minimum age of a restricted age classification.

Films with a recommended parental guidance or mature rating will have their rating reiterated verbally at the front of house when buying or collecting tickets if we reasonably consider anyone in the party to be under 16 years old. This reiteration will only be when possible, but is in addition to our in venue and advertising notifications.

​We also ask that all children under the age of 13 attending any film to be accompanied by an adult ticket holder who is their parent or legal guardian.
