Finding Confluence

Picture

Important information

Confluence operates under the values of community, collaboration, and critical thinking - and so with these in mind and COVID-19 spread continuing worldwide, it is important to us that we do whatever steps we can to help mitigate the risks in our community.

While community spread has not been detected anywhere in New Zealand, this can change quickly. To help mitigate this we are seeking to control who visits the space, and when. This includes visitors to Double Farley or other coworkers at Confluence. Currently we are asking ALL visitors to refrain from visiting unless they have to for work reasons, which should be kept to a minimum length of time (we encourage Skype and other such distance meetings wherever possible), and definitely do not visit if you are unwell, especially a persistent cough, cold or flu symptoms, runny nose, or fever. We operate on a trust basis. This decision will be reviewed weekly and updated here as events change.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are hopeful to return to normal operation as soon as it is safe to do so.

Stay safe!
Melita & Kevin
Confluence is within a modern office building that is high above Whanganui central business district. Our peaceful spaces offer panoramic views across rooftops to the distant mountains and sea.
The public entrance to Confluence is near one end of Watt Street. Watt Street is the short street that the Regional Museum and War Memorial Centre are also on.
The building is also known for having WestPac bank, a dairy, and the new Postie store on the ground floors below Confluence, although you'll find their main entrances are only on the Victoria Avenue side, not Watt Street.
The easiest way to find Confluence is to go to the middle of Watt Street, which is the raised brick crossing and public gathering area connected to Victoria Avenue, also known as Majestic Square. Our entrance is about 30 metres from here, heading west or away from the river. You will see it, a glass door, on your left hand side of the street. It is set back a little from the street front, and approached by a short footpath with two small steps, or you can also access it by walking through the small staff carpark besides the door, for a step free entrance.
You can also find Confluence using Google or Apple Maps by either searching for Confluence Whanganui, or the street address which is 15 Watt Street, Whanganui. You can also ask Siri or Alexa for more information about Confluence or Whanganui Cinema to find us.
We are open to the public from 9am Monday to Friday, until 5pm. For events, workshops or films outside of these times the door will be open 30 mins before the advertised start time.

Bicycle parking

The downstairs lobby area has and inside space for 3 or 4 bicycles to be locked against the stairs. Please ensure you do not block or hinder the use of the stairs or exits with your bicycle. Alternative bicycle parking is across the road at the museum or outside Mint cafe in Majestic square.

Car parking and EV charging points

Car parking is available free of charge all-day around Queen's Park or the streets near the library. Alternatively daytime metered parking is right outside along Watt Street, which is also free of charge in the evenings and on Sundays or public holidays.

The nearest EV charging point is currently in the public carpark of Pak 'n Save shop which is at the SH3 end of Victoria Avenue. There is also a Tesla only charging point at Taupo Quay besides the i-Site building.

If you need an accessible parking space right outside our door please contact us on 06 2813474 so we can make arrangements for you.
