Directed by Bafta and Emmy award winner David Blair and based on the true story of Jan Zumbach (Iwan Rheon- Game of Thrones, Misfits) during WWII. Hurricane is the tale of the Polish pilot who alongside his comrades of the Polish Air Force joins the British Royal Air Force to fight during the Battle of Britain.
Having seen Warsaw burn, Poland crumble and France capitulate, the Poles join the Brits to push back the rampant Nazi empire. Initially, the British don’t trust the Polish men, and the pilots must contend against a barrage of animosity.
Exhaustion and nerves take a terrible toll on the men as they are pushed to the limit by constant aerial warfare in a fight to save their own country above a foreign land.
Confluence are screening this film 80 years to the day that the Battle of Britain began. A battle which the Hurricane became vital to achieving victory for the allies. Then four years later in July 1944 the final Hurricane of the almost 15,000 made took to the skies.
