Why we are showing this documentary
Recommended to us by our friends from Sustainable Whanganui, we are delighted to obtain a public screening licence and bring the film Living The Change to our town for a screening this September 27 at 6:30pm.
Neither Melita or Kevin have seen the film yet, but from what we've read and the trailers, it looks like a jam packed hour and a half of everyday folk around New Zealand who are doing the do, or rather living the change. We hope the magic of the film will come from the fact the people featured are just doing stuff they enjoy or which challenges them. But combined together in this documentary as they are in a good position to become the groundswell that sustainable change builds from. There may be so many inspirational stories that the runtime is an artificial restriction, but we have found some further write-ups on those featured via the films website.
From a technical point of view the interviews look to be well filmed and also feature the folks in their environments as opposed to just studios. The increases the texture of the film from the suburbs of Auckland to the gardens of the Wairarapa, there is a lot of New Zealand on display here, so seeing it on our giant 6m screen with surround sound whilst nestled in a comfy chair is a great option. The film also features some drone filming to gain another viewpoint on familiar scenes.
